The Herald-Star

The Tri-State Marine Corps Club Auxiliary is continuing to collect items for its Boatsie's Boxes project to provide healthy snacks for the troops for Easter.

While the auxiliary donated snacks at the March meeting, it will continue the project with donations of the following accepted through April 20: gum, candy, raisins, dried fruit, granola bars, Twizzlers, Life Savers, trail mix, nuts, beef jerky, powdered drinks and pretzels. Anyone interested in donation can contact Joan Spano at (304)748-3107.

The auxiliary recently mailed 1,092 cards to military personnel as well as veterans in nursing homes and 47 World War II veterans.

The cards were made and addressed by Mary Ann Smith, Maxine Ragan, Marcy Spano, Joni Hobart, Tina Spano, Joan Spano and Linda Elliott.
