National Day of Prayer service Thursday

April 28, 2012
The Herald-Star

When Jefferson County holds its annual National Day of Prayer service at noon on Thursday, at the First Westminster Presbyterian Church, Steubenville, it will mark the 20th anniversary of the county's celebration of the event.

"I only have four of my original committee left," said Anita Jackson, Jefferson County coordinator of the observance, "one of which is Mayor Domenick Mucci, who has attended every celebration except one."

"I must also say, that each year, the county commissioners have attended our services and given us a proclamation. It speaks well of the City of Steubenville and the county to bestow such an honor on our yearly celebration." The other charter members are the Rev. Calvin McLoyd Jr. and Frank and Phyllis DiPietro.

Participating in the celebration will be Anthony Mougianis, president of Apollo Professional Cleaning and Restoration; the Rev. Jason Elliott, pastor of First Westminster Presbyterian Church; Dave Hindman, president of Hindman Family Companies; the Rev. Clint Quillen, Wintersville United Methodist Church; Evangelist Eva Lucious of Deliverance Temple; Aimee Swearingen, president of P.O.W. Ministries; Jerry Bailey, pastor, Church of the Nazarene; Carol Grum, organist at First Westminster Presbyterian Church; Charles Menk of Promise Productions; Alan Schreck, coordinator of Troop 401 of Holy Family Church; Thomas Graham, county commissioner; the Rev. Richard Davis, vice president of community relations, Franciscan University; Steubenville High School Choir under the direction of Scott Wolodkin; Andrew Hrezo, president, Steubenville Sierra Club; the Rev. Calvin McLoyd Jr., pastor of Second Baptist Church; the Rev. Gary Halberg, Word of Life Church; Mr. and Mrs. Frank DiPietro, charter committee members; Mucci; and the Rev. Vaughn Foster, Christ's Community Church.

The service is open to the public. A lunch will be provided afterwards in the church social hall for participants and the audience.
