The American Legion Post 10 Ladies Auxiliary of Weirton held its monthly meeting June 18 at the legion hall on Pennsylvania Avenue with President Shirley Brecht presiding.
Brecht introduced Vick Folden, new post commander, who gave a report about the post and invited the auxiliary to contact him for requests.
Loretta Fabian installed the 2012-13 officers. They are, Wanda Perrone, chaplain; Gloria Jerrel, first vice president; Fabian, treasurer; Brecht, president; Joan Spano, historian; Clara Robinson, secretary; and Donna Gates, sergeant-at-arms. Fabian received a gift in appreciation for her efforts in the installation.
Robinson read thank-you cards from Perrone and Last Man's Club member Milton Fabianich.
Brecht read "The Volunteer" by Dan and Carol Lyons on poppies. Spano brought the club album for members to view.
On Memorial Day, Brecht placed a wreath for the auxiliary, and Marlene Edwards placed a wreath for the Gold Star at Memorial Park Grounds.
The auxiliary will participate in the July 4 parade.
The post will hold its annual picnic Aug. 19 at the Serbian Picnic Grounds on Kings Creek Road. Auxiliary members are asked to bring a dessert and help in the kitchen.
Marcy Spano won the 50/50 drawing. Members should remit their $25 dues in June.
The auxiliary will make a donation to the Community Bread Basket.
The rhododendron Girls State local representatives will attend the 6:30 p.m. July 16 meeting.
Brecht and Perrone will serve refreshments.
