Police reports

Steubenville Police

Ganging up: Police were called to Belleview Park for a disturbance at the playground, Wednesday. Several people still at the scene said “three juveniles were bullying (a fourth) juvenile and threatening him” so they tried to break it up and ended up arguing with parents of the other children, who by the time police arrived had fled the scene.

Top heavy: A truck hauling a 2,500-pound generator attempted a turn onto University Boulevard from State Route 7 north when it tipped over, Wednesday. The driver told police he was only going 20 mph, and police report the generator was “top heavy and the truck to be too small for the job.”

Lucky teens: Two juveniles escaped serious injury after the vehicle they were in rolled over a steep hillside on Hollywood Boulevard Extension, Wednesday. Police said the pair were able to exit the heavily damaged vehicle and made their way through the woods and onto the roadway. Both appeared to have minor injuries, including bleeding cuts and abrasions but were cleared on scene by Steubenville EMS, and said they’d been wearing their seat belts, police said. They told police they were westbound on Hollywood Boulevard “when the vehicle pulled hard to the left, causing (it) to cross marked lanes and continue to travel west along the hillside.” They said the vehicle rolled over several times before coming to rest on the passenger side,

Juvenile issues: A city resident said her juvenile son forced entry into her home “and began to destroy her belongings,” Wednesday. She said the juvenile no longer lives in her home and was “not to be at the residence due to a protection order” barring him from being near her. Police said there were “numerous glass items broken throughout the house and (a) table leg thrown on the floor.” They said the back door was also damaged and showed obvious signs of forced entry. The juvenile fled the property before police arrived.

Booked: Alexandria Corsaro, 39, 442 Murdock Ave., Mingo Junction, bench warrant, Wednesday. Callers had reported “an intoxicated female” sitting near dumpsters in the 2100 block of Sunset Boulevard and upon arrival police said it was apparent Corsaro was “highly” intoxicated and had an outstanding warrant for her arrest from Steubenville Municipal Court.

False alarm: Someone reported seeing an unresponsive male in a car in the 1400 block of Belleview Boulevard, Wednesday. Police said when they believed he was watching a video on his cell phone, and when they talked with him he confirmed it. Police said he was parked in front of his own residence and “didn’t appear to be under the influence of anything and the fire department confirmed it.”

Theft attempt: Employees at Kroger gave police the video footage of a woman who tried to leave the store earlier in the week with $200 in merchandise she hadn’t paid for, Wednesday. They said she was carrying a large brown purse and had loaded a shopping cart with meat products and cases of pop. When the wheels locked up in the vestibule, police said she grabbed what appeared to be two briskets and fled.

Booked: Allison Pool, 38, 1308 Oregon Ave, Steubenville, probation violation (Muncipal Court), Wednesday.

Code issues: Notices of violation were sent to owners/occupants of properties at 1521 Plum St., 730 Rosswell Ave., 503 Union Ave., and 324 S. Fourth St., all for high grass/weeds; Also, 430 Lawson Ave., freezer on porch, scattered junk and litter in back yard; 1649 Ridge Ave., bags of garbage in back yard; 421 Union Ave., two tow-type trailers filled with junk and litter parked behind residence; and 744 Rosswell Ave., litter and garbage piled in rear of property.

Dog’s life: A caller reported hearing someone yelling for help at Hidden Hollow Campground in Bloomingdale, Thursday. Deputies spotted a South Carolina man on his stomach, holding onto a dog. They said he kept telling them to shoot the dog and refused to let it go because he was convinced if he let go it would attack him, even after deputies pointed out the dog was struggling to breathe because of the way he was holding it. They said he continued to scream at them to kill the dog even though its tail was wagging and it was not behaving aggressively. Deputies told him to let the animal go and if it went for him they would intercede but he still wouldn’t let go of it, so when the dog started struggling to get free, the two of them rolled deeper into a briar patch. Even after the dog got free he still didn’t get into the ambulance as they’d suggested and instead took a seat at a picnic table. He eventually did as they asked and told them he had that dog and another one tied to his belt and they saw what he figured was a raccoon and tried to chase it.

Conflicting signals: A Yorkville woman said her ex came into her home “and was destroying stuff,” Wednesday. The male told deputies she was “trying to cause trouble for him.”

Family squabble: A Wintersville woman said a family member was trying to remove things from her residence and she wanted the person removed from her property, Wednesday. Her family member said she would see relief through the courts.
