Adding on: A man wanted for failure to appear was charged with possession of drugs after police allegedly found a plastic bag containing a substance believed to be methamphetamine in his pocket, Monday. Richard Johnson, 22, 817 Market St, Apt. G, was charged with possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia and served with the bench warrant, police said. Johnson allegedly told police the white powdery substance in the bag was “ice.”

Tangled web: A man staying at a residence in the 2200 block of Sunset Boulevard complained about another male who he said was arguing with his girlfriend, Sunday. He said the male’s girlfriend left but he was “concerned for her safety and believed (the male) needed mental health assistance,” but when they tracked him down, they said the male was “calm and cooperative.” The male alleged that the caller “is a predator and stated that he came over talking graphically about sexual things.” He said he got concerned after the caller allegedly tried to get him out of the residence. The two men argued, and he told the caller and his wife to leave the building, initially claiming they stole a collector coin, a tablet and a cell phone that belonged to him. Later, he said he gave the tablet to another man. Police spoke with the man’s girlfriend, who told them she was fine and with family. The original caller and his wife were told they are no longer permitted at the property.

New wrinkle: Wal-Mart employees reported an irate male causing a disturbance, Sunday. Sheriff’s deputies located the male and returned him to the store. Employees said the male wanted to return DVDs that had been opened and when they told him no, “he became upset and began yelling at and vaguely threatening employees.” The store didn’t pursue charges, but employees wanted him trespassed from the property.

Picking and choosing: Employees at Wal-Mart told police they watched a woman rooting around outside the store for a discarded receipt and said when she found it, she went inside and selected several of the grocery items listed on it and then attempted to return the items at the service desk. Because the refund was denied the store didn’t pursue charges, but they did not want the woman to return to the property.

Workarounds: A caller reported someone “knocking on windows and pounding on doors,” Sunday. She told police she was locked out of her residence and the man wasn’t answering “due to him sleeping” and she couldn’t call him because her phone was in the house. Police tried to call him, but he didn’t answer and the woman eventually told them she no longer needed help. The man contacted police later and said the woman “broke the widow and came inside to grab some of her belongings” but had left. Police told him since she lives in the residence there was nothing they could do at this time. He was advised to evict her if he didn’t want her staying there anymore.

Turbulent: A disturbance was reported in the 700 block of Kendall Avenue, Friday. Police spoke with a female who told them an argument with her boyfriend got out of hand and the two of them “began wrestling and he grabbed her.” She didn’t want to pursue charges, but police told her if he came back and things escalated or she felt threatened she should call.

Phone fight: A woman claimed her daughter was “actively assaulting her” and took her phone during a disturbance in the 400 block of Darlington Avenue, Saturday. She said she pepper sprayed her daughter to get her to leave. Her daughter admitted they’d argued and that she took her phone. Neither of them wanted to pursue charges.

Noisy: Police had to warn residents hosting parties at 713 Woodlawn Road and in the 1500 block of Ridge Avenue to keep the noise down, Friday. The Ridge Avenue resident was also instructed to extinguish a fire that was burning since no one was around it.

Runner: A disturbance was reported in the 1400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Sunday. The homeowner said a male came to her residence and was knocking at her door, despite being ordered by the court to stay away from her. She said the man fled on foot when she told him through a window that she had called police.

Drugs: An apparent overdose was reported in the Foster Place vicinity, Sunday. Steubenville firefighters told police family members possibly had administered Narcan to resuscitate the victim prior to their arrival. Police said the victim “seemed lethargic” but did not require more Narcan.

Porch pirate: A Pembroke Road resident said no sooner had Amazon delivered a package then a woman walked up to his front door and stole it, Saturday. He didn’t know what was in the package.

Loaded up: Police were given video of two women who allegedly stole more than $1,000 in merchandise from Kloud 9, Hollywood Boulevard, Saturday. Employees said the items were stolen about a month ago.

Booked: Jessica L. Ash, 39, 1229 Anderson Ave., Wellsville, criminal trespass, Sunday.

Cited: Dustin Conner, 25, 138 Kennedy Ave., Follansbee, speeding. Police allege they spotted Conne’s vehicle traveling “at a high rate of speed” on Washington Street Hill Sunday and witnessed him “rapidly accelerate around slower traffic using the left turning lane” at the intersection of Hollywood and Sunset boulevards; Also, Brendan J. Lee, 705 Belleview Blvd., Steubenville, expired plates, Sunday.

Jefferson County Sheriff

Cued up: A caller reported a customer in a Stratton bar was causing problems, Friday. The caller said the man had threatened other customers and threatened an employee with a pool stick. Deputies encountered the man walking out and he told them nothing was going on, but once inside they were told he’d started a shoving match with a man, then started to slap him, then when the bar tender told him to leave, he threatened to hit her. The other man said the patron with the behavior issues had gone to the bathroom and came out wanting to fight.” He said he wasn’t hurt and neither he nor the employee wanted to pursue charges.

Pattern of behavior: A woman’s cell phone reportedly disappeared after an argument with her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Friday. The woman said they’d argued the day before and he’d stormed off with her cell phone but brought it back the following day, but when they started arguing again, he grabbed her car keys and phone and left. She initially wasn’t interested in pursuing charges but when he hadn’t returned it a day later, she changed her mind.
