Missing merchandise: A vendor at a craft show in the North Street area said she was missing $66 in merchandise, Monday. She said when the event was over she left her merchandise in the building with the understanding she could pick it up the next day but when she contacted the person in charge she was told they “were unavailable to let her in.” When she finally regained her merchandise, she noticed some jewelry was missing.

Not permitted: Two men soliciting in the 200 block of Wilma Avenue were told they needed to stop until they secured a permit as required by the city, Monday. The two were in a black SUV with Florida plates, police said.

Cited: Two people were issued summonses after they allegedly skip-scanned merchandise at Wal-Mart and tried to leave the store without paying for all of their items, Monday. Police allege Christian P. Flannigan, 19, and Raylynn Hartley, 19, both of 153 Fair Oaks Drive, Weirton, failed to scan 11 food items valued at nearly $69 in their cart, despite having legitimately paid for more than $319 in merchandise. The pair told police it was possible they missed some items because they’d “double-scanned some and had to have issues corrected” but insisted if it happened it wasn’t intentional. The couple was cited for petit theft, police said.

Booked: William King, 41, no fixed address, having weapons under disability and improperly handling a firearm, Monday. Police responding to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle report finding King and a female companion sleeping in a running vehicle and a gun on top of King’s wallet in the center console. The female told police she purchased the gun from one of his friends a few days earlier, but they have been living in the car for about a week and that he knew it was there.

Damaged: A resident in the 1200 block of Sinclair Avenue said roofing material from a building next door was blowing onto his vehicle, Monday. Police said a large piece of shingle was laying on the hood of his vehicle and had scratched it.

Not allowed: Police were told someone was panhandling in the 100 block of North Fourth Street, Monday. The individual was gone when police arrived.

Code issues: Notice of violation was sent to the owner/occupants of a property at 1525 Plum St., items in the back yard and mattress wedged between a fence and utility pole in the alley.

Booked: Kenneth Ware, 46, 131 Talbott Drive, Wintersville, failure to appear warrant (Municipal Court), Monday; Bridget Burke, 42, 1333 Arlington Ave., Steubenville, bench warrant (Municipal Court), Sunday.

Cited: Anna M. Cross, 40, 1287 township Road 162, Mingo Junction, speeding; James Thompson, 43, 1240 Pennsylvania Ave., Steubenville, and Justin Cragle, 39, 1416 Ridge Ave., Steubenville, both driving under suspension.
