Farmers Market/open house

SMITHFIELD — A farmers market and museum open house will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Smithfield historical building, located on Main Street in Smithfield. Copies of yearbooks from Smithfield High School will be available for a donation.

Crafts, vegetables, baked goods and lunch items will be available from local vendors. Vendor space is still available, according to President Linda Kovach.

A luncheon will be held in addition to the farmers market and open house. Those interested in renting a space or for information, can contact Kovach at (740) 733-8381.

Beatty Park concert canceled

STEUBENVILLE — The Friends of Beatty Park have announced the cancellation of its Fourth of July patriotic concert, scheduled to be held Saturday at the outdoor theater in Beatty Park.

Officials explained the park’s outdoor performance project has yet to be completed.

Organizers said it is their hope to support future concerts and performances in this area as soon as possible, with a projected date being this fall.

Budget hearing set

WINTERSVILLE — The 2025 budget of Seven Ranges Joint Fire District of Jefferson County will be reviewed in a public hearing, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. July 9 at the Board of Trustees office, located at 300 Airport Road in Wintersville.

The Seven Ranges Joint Fire District’s regular meeting will begin at 7 p.m. following the budget hearing.

Veterans commission to meet

STEUBENVILLE — The regular monthly meeting of the Veterans Service Commission of Jefferson County will be held at 12:30 p.m. July 10 at 500 Market St., Suite 310.

All veterans and interested parties are welcome to attend.

July luncheon

STEUBENVILLE — The Steubenville High School Class of ’59 met for its monthly luncheon June 12. Classmates had 18 members in attendance.

The group expressed its sympathy to the family of Linda Raber, a classmate who died. Get-well wishes were extended to Bill Standiford and praise was given on the class’s 65th reunion. The reunion had 33 classmates and guests attend.

Norina Eroshevich provided the blessing.

Barry and Sally Wilson ordered a birthday cake, which Terry Seese went and brought to the luncheon. Happy birthday was then sung to those with a birthday in June.

A discussion was held regarding the Class of ’59 scholarship. Members said everyone in the class is encouraged to support the scholarship as a means of giving back.

“Regardless of the amount, it provides an opportunity to touch lives in a meaningful way,” they said.

The next class luncheon will take place at Froelichs at 12:30 p.m. July 10. All are welcome to attend. For reservations, call Eroshevich at (740) 219-2234.

Weirton Senior Center to hold dance

WEIRTON — The Weirton Senior Center will hold a dance from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. July 11 at the center, located at 3425 Main St. Jack Thomas will provide the musical entertainment.

The center will hold another dance from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. July 18. Organizers announced “D.J. Chris” will be providing the musical selections. Both dances require a $5 cover charge.

Participants are asked to bring a covered dish for guests to share. Center officials stated they plan to have the building’s air conditioning unit fixed by the date of the dance. For information, call (304) 748-3490.

Senior center plans trip

WEIRTON — The Weirton Senior Center is planning a trip to see “Beatlemania,” at the Amish Door in Wilmont. The event will be held Oct. 17. Those attending will meet at the center at 8:30 a.m. The bus will leave at 9 a.m.

The cost is $99 per person. The cost includes the coach bus ride, a sit-down lunch and the concert. There is a limit of 38 people who can participate on the trip, officials stated.

Lions selling drawing tickets

FOLLANSBEE — The Follansbee Lions Club will hold a drawing where the winner will receive two tickets to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Dallas Cowboys’ football game on Oct. 6 in Pittsburgh.

The drawing will take place during the Follansbee Community Days event, scheduled between July 12-14. Tickets for the drawing will be $10.

Lions members noted with the purchase of a ticket, there also will be the opportunity to win tickets for one of two pre-season games in Pittsburgh. The winner must provide a valid phone number and email address on their ticket. The winner does not need to be present for the drawing, which will take place on the evening of July 14, organizers announced.

Democratic women cancel meeting

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Democratic executive committee and members of the Democratic Women will not hold a July meeting, due to the Fourth of July holiday.

The next scheduled meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 8 at the Wellsburg Library. All Democrats are welcome to attend.
