Farm bureau to hold meeting

WINTERSVILLE — The Jefferson County Farm Bureau will hold a public meeting from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 29 in the auditorium of Indian Creek High School in Wintersville.

Attorney Robert Moore from Ohio State University’s agricultural and resource law program will give an overview of farm business structures, including sole proprietorships, partnerships, LLCs and corporations.

He will then inform those in attendance on how these structures tie into the Corporate Transparency Act.

Farm business owners may be required to report to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network in order to be in compliance with the law, Moore explains.

John Grafton, president of the Jefferson County Farm Bureau, weighed in on the upcoming meeting. “Many agriculture producers don’t think of themselves when they hear corporate transparency,” he stated. “However, this law goes down to the smaller LLCs and various business arrangements. This meeting will provide you with information to discuss with your accountant or whomever files your tax documents.”

Questions, additional information or registration can be completed by contacting the bureau at (330) 339-7211 or through e-mail at jefferson@ofbf.org.

Those interested in attending must register by Oct. 28.
