Fatal shooting under investigation in Weirton

WEIRTON — Weirton Police continue their investigation into a Saturday morning fatal shooting in the city’s downtown.

Taylor M. Albert, 30, was found dead with a gunshot wound after officers responded to a call at 3025 Elm St. at approximately 4:50 a.m. Saturday, according to information released by Police Chief Charlie Kush.

Officers were called to the scene for a report of a medical call, and, upon arrival, reported witnessing Jordan Lee Pager, 32, walking from the residence, yelling at ambulance personnel while holding a handgun.

Pager was confronted by law enforcement, who ordered him to drop the handgun. When Pager did not follow the direction, the report states, officers subdued him using a Taser.

Pager was booked into the West Virginia Northern Regional Jail Saturday afternoon, where he was listed Sunday as being held without bond. He is facing a charge of first-degree murder.

The investigation found no one else in the residence.

Kush said the investigation is ongoing, and additional charges could be filed.

The Weirton Police Department was assisted on scene by the West Virginia State Police and Hancock County Ambulance.
