STEUBENVILLE– The city water department is advising residents on the West End water system to boil their water for the next day or two in the wake of multiple line breaks over the weekend

The West End system serves both sides of Sunset Boulevard from Hollywood Boulevard to Efts Lane, including Lovers Lane to county Road 26.

“Multiple 12-inch line breaks on the pumping line were isolated overnight and now have been repaired,” Water Superintendent Jim Jenkins said. “The system is back to normal operation, however samples will be collected (Monday) morning and sent to a lab for analysis to confirm no contamination has occurred during the low pressure issues caused by the breaks.”

He said the department expects to get the test results back Tuesday afternoon.
