Levy committee to meet

STEUBENVILLE — The levy committee of the Jefferson County Prevention and Recovery Board will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The meeting will be held at the board office, 524 Madison Ave.

Red Cross seeks volunteers

WINTERSVILLE — The American Red Cross is issuing an urgent appeal for volunteers who are willing to travel this fall to support emergency shelters for major national disaster relief efforts.

Candidates must complete necessary training, have a current driver’s license and be able to commit to a two-week deployment or backfill for local volunteers by responding to local disasters. Training sessions will be held Friday at the Wheeling office at 193 29th Street from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and at the Wintersville office at 143 Canton Road from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
