American Legion Argonne Post 33 presented a $4,000 check to the Center of Hope Friendship Room Tuesday. Legion Service Officer Joe Holliday, left, and Post Trustee Kenny Walter, right, presented the donation to the nonprofit agency’s representative, Monique DeJaro. DeJaro said some of the money will be used toward purchasing items for senior citizens and teenagers, as these age groups are sometimes forgotten during the holiday season. The Friendship Room’s purpose is to meet the immediate needs of those within the Ohio Valley, whether it be feeding the hungry or clothing those in need of attire, officials noted. Members of Post 33 recently presented a $2,000 donation to the Jefferson County Humane Society as well, Holliday noted. — Julie Stenger
