Suspect arrested in Mingo Junction stabbing case
MINGO JUNCTION — The man wanted in connection with a stabbing in Mingo Junction has been apprehended and is facing pending charges.
At 12:28 p.m. on Monday, officers with the Mingo Junction Police department arrested David Wayne Fram II, 55, of 206 Kirtdoll Way, Mingo Junction. Fram allegedly fled Sunday night after stabbing his girlfriend in the head with a pocketknife during an argument.
Fram is facing pending charges of domestic violence, felonious assault and obstructing justice in Jefferson County Court District 2, Wintersville. An initial hearing has not been scheduled.
Mingo Junction Police Chief Willie McKenzie said the arrest was made possible through cooperation with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and a citizen who called in a tip.
“We want to thank whoever it was that called the sheriff’s department to report seeing that male,” McKenzie said. “My motto is always ‘Police and community.’ We can’t be effective without the help of the community. So, I just want to thank my officers, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department for assistance and all individuals who help us day in and day out to make our job a bit easier.”
Around 10:45 p.m. Sunday, a Mingo Junction police officer was dispatched to 206 Kirtdoll Way for an alleged domestic incident in progress, McKenzie said.
Upon arrival, the officer was met by the victim at the residence, who claimed she had been stabbed in the right side of her forehead by her live-in, long-term boyfriend. A disagreement between the two allegedly led the boyfriend to pull out a pocketknife and stab her. Officers observed a laceration to the right side of the woman’s head that was “bleeding profusely.”
The male suspect had already fled from the area by the time police arrived, McKenzie said. Sheriff’s department officers assisted in searching the immediate area but were unable to locate the suspect, even with the use of a K-9.
On Monday, McKenzie said, the Mingo Junction Police Department received a call from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department. The latter had received a call alleging a likely sighting of Fram, walking south on county Road 74.
Mingo Junction officers arrived within two minutes of the call, with sheriff’s department personnel en route to assist, McKenzie said. Officers searched the area and located Fram on Battle Run Road, off county Road 74, and apprehended him without incident.
Arresting officer Patrolwoman Ashley Close said Fram was in possession of a knife similar to the one described in the incident.
