MARIANNE O’ROURKE

Marianne O’Rourke, 81, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 8, 2024, at Weirton Medical Center surrounded by family.

She was born on November 21, 1942, the daughter of the late Sam and Eleanor Iaquinta.

A graduate of Weir High in 1960, Marianne worked for Weirton Steel Corp., where she met and later married her husband, Edward O’Rourke. After raising her children, she worked at Marland Heights School as a teacher’s aide, and then Weirton Medical Center as a medical transcriptionist, where she later retired.

Marianne dedicated her life to her family pouring her heart into raising her children and guiding her grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them.

She enjoyed spending her time cheering on her favorite sports teams, the WVU Mountaineers, Steelers and Pirates throughout the years. Marianne was known as a terrific Italian cook, especially around the holidays. She will be remembered for her delicious recipes that will be passed down for generations to come.

In addition to her parents, Marianne was preceded in death by her husband, Edward O’Rourke Sr., in 2018; brothers, Sam, Tony and Tom Iaquinta; and nephew, Nicholas Cosenza.

Marianne leaves behind a legacy of love left to cherish her memory, her daughter with whom she resided, Patti Littleton of Weirton; son, Edward O’Rourke Jr. of Wheeling; grandchildren, Joe (Alexis) Littleton of Pittsburgh and Jenna (Greg) Littleton of Pittsburgh; great-grandson, Luca Littleton; very dear sister-in-law, Marnie Frey of Weirton; sisters, Elaine Richards of Tennesee and Carol Hawthorne of Weirton; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Our family would like to extend a very special thank you to caregivers, Debbie Moore and Theresa Barlow, as well as the 7th floor nurses at Weirton Medical Center for their special care and support to our loved one.

Family and friends are invited to Marianne’s visitation, Wednesday, November 13 from 3-7 p.m. at Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton.
