RUSSELL LOAR

He was born in Newark, Ohio on November 16, 1938 to the late Leah (Mason) and Russell Wayne Loar.

Russ was retired from the Weirton Steel accounting department as well as the security department at The Homer Laughlin China Company. He previously served as President of the Board of Directors of Strip Steel Federal Credit Union in Weirton and was a member of the Newell Lions Club for many years.

Russell’s wife Jeanette preceded him in death on October 1, 2024. They were married on August 26, 1956 shortly after graduating from New Cumberland High School. He was also preceded in death by his sister Millie Watson and brother Bill Loar.

Russ is survived by his daughters: Leah Loar-Mays of New Cumberland, Carol “Dee” Loar (Al King) of York, PA, and Tara (Robert) House of Chester, WV, grandchildren: Heather (Dave) Anderson of East Liverpool, Amanda Mays (Rob Minnie) of New Cumberland, Michael (Erika) Mays of Chester, Matt Berken (Shawna Guire) of Chester, Sarah House (Jesse Gonzales) of Lawrenceville, Anna House of Chester, Mindy Mays (Colby Blystone) of Lawrenceville, and Dustin Mays of Maryland, as well as great-grandchildren Brandon, Nathan, Desmond, and Charlie.

Per Russell’s wishes, there will be no services. Arner Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.

The family would like to thank Stone Pear Pavilion and Valley Hospice for the care that our dear dad and Pap received in his last few months. He is in the care of the Arner Funeral Chapel.
