DONALD “BURCH” BURCHFIELD

Donald “Burch” L. Burchfield, a devoted husband, father, and friend, passed away on March 13, 2025, at the Valley Hospice Care Center North. Born on May 12, 1937, in Steubenville, Ohio, Donald was a proud graduate of Steubenville High School, class of 1955. Shortly after graduating, he dedicated four years to serving in the Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Sergeant. After his military service, Donald embarked on a long and fulfilling career with the postal service, where he worked as a letter carrier for 38 years. He also served as a contracted cleaner at the Mingo Junction Post Office for 25 years. He was a man of simple pleasures, with a profound love for the Pittsburgh Steelers. “Yesterday is history, Tomorrow is a mystery, today’s a gift, “ reflects his optimistic outlook on life and his appreciation for each moment. He leaves behind his three children: Donna Burchfield of Steubenville, Curtis (Barb) Burchfield of Steubenville, and Patricia Gonzalas of Utah. seven grandchildren, a great grandfather to ten great grandchildren, and a great great grandfather to one great great grandchild. He is survived by his sister, Deloures (Bill) Thompson of Fairfield, Ohio, and his two brothers, Tommy Burchfield of Winterhaven, Florida, and Gary Burchfield of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. Donald was predeceased by his beloved wife, Cruz (Herrera) Burchfield, and his brother Ronald Burchfield, both of whom he cherished dearly. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation scheduled for March 18, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with services at 5 pm at Schuetz Funeral Home, located at 235 Clifton Ave., Mingo Junction, Ohio.
