Big Red golf wins match play event on senior night

STEUBENVILLE — The Big Red golf team ended its regular season in victorious fashion on Tuesday.

Steubenville hosted Brooke at Steubenville Country Club for a match play event on senior day and defeated the Bruins 6-0.

Christopher Elliott defeated Henry Anderson five and three, Marco Orecchio defeated Andrew Petrella three and two, Evan Liggett topped Parker McMahon three and two, Waylon Hayes topped Clay Wood two and one, Jaggar Rawson defeated Colten Yensen three and one and Brennan Sutton topped Max Malinki three and one.

Big Red finishes the regular season at 15-3 headed into OVAC and OHSAA tournament play.

VOLLEYBALL

Oak Glen sweeps Creek

WINTERSVILLE — The Oak Glen volleyball team swept Indian Creek in three sets on the road Tuesday to improve to 15-2-2 on the season.

The Golden Bears won by scores of 25-14, 25-14, 25-12.

Averi Martin and Brooklyn Six each tallied 12 kills, McKenzi Martin had nine kills, Mikalyn Balch racked up 35 assists and Addison Smith finished with nine digs.

Central tops Madonna

STEUBENVILLE — The Catholic Central volleyball team defeated rival Madonna in four sets on Tuesday, 25-16, 25-12, 19-25, 25-17.

Natalie Cherepko tallied 14 kills, 10 points, five digs, four blocks and two aces, Ava Marcino recorded five digs, 18 assists, 20 points, two blocks, four digs and two aces, Emily Walker had 16 points, two aces, three kills and a block and Gianna Lemal recorded 17 points, 10 digs, seven blocks, two kills and two aces.

Weir sweeps Toronto

WEIRTON — The Weir High volleyball team swept past Toronto, 25-17, 25-21, 25-10, on Tuesday.

Amalia Kirlingitis recorded 22 ssists, five digs and four kills, Marissa Mascio tallied seven kills, eight digs and three aces, Brayley Lash had nine kills, three digs and three blocks and Janai Turner racked up 13 digs, four aces and two assists.
