STEUBENVILLE – The Big Red volleyball team rolled to victory against Zanesville.

Big Red — the No. 4 seed — swept the No. 5 seed Blue Devils, 25-8, 25-11, 25-13, in an Ohio Division III Eastern District tournament match Monday night inside the Crimson Center.

“I think the girls played great,” Big Red (13-10) head coach Logan Colabella said.

With the win, Big Red will now play No. 2 seed New Philadelphia in a district semifinal at 6 p.m. Wednesday on the road.

“We have watched some film on them,” Colabella said. “We are going to keep watching film. We are going to plan our attack.”

Zanesville ended the season with a record of 0-23.

The Blue Devils won one set all season.

“I don’t think so,” Colabella said asked if Zanesville did anything unexpected in the match.

Individually for Big Red, Kaitlyn Smith tallied eight points, three kills, one block and 13 assists, Aubrey Slussar scored three points to go along with 14 assists and Analesa Purdue produced four points and seven kills.

“It was nice they were able to win their final match here,” Colabella said. “We’re proud of all of them. They are going to do great things.”
