Toronto rolls to big victory vs. Conotton Valley, 68-27

TORONTO — The scoreboard operator was quite busy as Toronto and Conotton Valley lit up the scoreboard and combined to score 95 points Friday night at Clarke Hinkle Field.

In a game full of big plays, the Red Knights made more as Toronto scored a touchdown on all 10 of its offensive drives to earn a 68-27 victory via the running clock.

“We had a great week of practice,” first-year Toronto (6-2) head coach Jaret Aubiel said. “We were prepared. We definitely have some things to clean up, but it is a nice win.”

The Knights tallied 574 yards of total offense with five touchdowns coming on the ground and five coming through the air.

“We were clicking tonight,” Aubiel said. “We did a good job with our running game and in our passing game.”

Toronto senior standout quarterback Zeb Kinsey broke three school records in the win. Kinsey completed 14-of-19 passes for 289 yards and four touchdowns, while also running five times for 52 yards and another touchdown.

On the night, Kinsey set school records for most career touchdown passes, most career passing yards and the most passing yards in a single season.

“I did not know that was possible,” Aubiel said. “I didn’t know the stats. I am happy for him. It is well deserved.”

On the flip side, defensively, the Red Knights allowed the Rockets to collect 252 yards of offense with 259 yards and three touchdowns coming through the air.

“We have some things we have to clean up at practice,” Aubiel said. “We are going to continue to work and get better.”

The hosts threw for 327 yards and ran for 247 yards on their way to the 41-point victory.

Aiden Filby finished the game with seven receptions for 204 yards, Brady Fair delivered six rushes for 85 yards and two touchdowns, while also hauling in four catches for 52 yards and Zavier Kinsey contributed 45 yards and two touchdowns on five carries.

The visitors were held to minus-7 yards rushing on 12 carries.

“Defensively, we got stops when we needed to,” Aubiel said. “We’re not happy about giving all that up. We’re happy with this win, and we will move on to next week.”
