Central’s Peyton Rauch named first team All-Ohio
The release of the All-Ohio teams began on Monday with Divisions VI and VII, and several locals were among those included.
Catholic Central senior Peyton Rauch led the way locally, being named to the first team in Division VII.
Rauch helped the Crusaders to an 8-4 mark, finishing the regular season with 75 tackles, 20 sacks, a forced fumble and a recovery.
He had two big sacks in overtime in Central’s playoff win over River.
“An incredible player and person,” Catholic Central head coach Eric Meek said. “He lives in the weight room. He’s very coachable, fast, physical and aggressive. As a senior, teams ran away from him as they could not block him.”
Also from the Crusaders, Jimmy Hernon was named to the second team and Noah Hough and Tommy Pergi were each voted on the third team.
Camden Bradley and Timmy Mihalyo were honorable mentions.
In Division VI, Toronto quarterback Zeb Kinsey was voted to the second team along with tight end Mason Marchbank, while Aiden Filby, Russ Dickinson and Brody Winters were each an honorable mention.
The All-Ohio lists are voted on by a committee of members from the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association. The All-Ohio teams are based on nominations from the seven districts of the OPSMA, which vote on the all-district teams from regular-season accomplishments.
The All-Ohio releases will continue today with Divisions IV and V. Divisions II and III will be released Wednesday and Division I on Thursday.
